Every now and then at the end of a letter or email to various of my family members, I’ll include some Little Boy Funnies quotes, which I collect regularly into little personalized notebooks for each boy. Every time I look at those notebooks, I have to stay longer than I meant to because they are just so funny and cute.

So I thought I’d do a Little Boy Funnies blog post, just for fun. 🙂 I meant to only look at the quotes from the past six months, but I opened to the wrong spot in Alec’s notebook and found this gem from when he was four.

You've heard Alec's birth story. You've heard Sebastian's. Bet you can't guess how Emmett's went. 🙂 I sure couldn't.

Emmett's birth was in a lot of ways my hardest and definitely my longest. Maybe the most traumatizing, too, although that could just be because it's the freshest in my mind. Since this is the most recent birth, it’s also the most detailed story, so be forewarned. You might feel your skin crawl a time or two if you continue reading. When I went looking for my notes on Sebastian’s birth, I was amazed to realize I’d never really written it out, not in full anyway. That’s surprising to me because it was by far my best birth, but it’s also not surprising because at that point in my life, I kind of had two babies to keep me busy.

It makes me even more glad I’m doing this series. It’d be a shame not to have such a good birth down in writing somewhere. 🙂

Coming just nineteen months after Alec, I feel like in some ways Sebastian got the short end of the stick. When I try to remember being pregnant with him, I don’t remember much.

I do remember this, one little boy on the outside on top of one little boy on the inside. 🙂

I feel like I remember even less about his tiny baby days. It was such a blur of low sleep and high needs, always.

But when it comes to the birth story, Sebastian’s was the best by far. ...continue reading
